-In this test we will use 2 Cisco IP phones, a Cisco IP Phone 7961 and a Cisco
IP Phone 7941 and both of these phones are properly provisioned for this
test)

-Intercom Directory Numbers used, 2
Step 1 (Creating an Intercom Partition)
-Go to the Cisco Unified CM Administration Page.
-Select the Call Routing TAB
-Select the Intercom TAB
-Select Intercom Route Partition
-Click the ADD NEW button
-create a new intercom partition, for example
Internal_Intercom_PT, Internal Intercom Partition
*Once you have created an Intercom Partition proceed to the next step
Step 2 (Creating an Intercom Calling Search Space)
-Go to the Cisco Unified CM Administration Page.
-Select the Call Routing TAB
-Select the Intercom TAB
-Select the Intercom Calling Search Space TAB
-Click the ADD NEW button
-Create a new intercom Calling Search Space, for example
Internal_Intercom_CSS
Description Internal Intercom CSS
Select the Internal_Intercom_PT as the (Selected Intercom Partitions)
-click Save
Step 3 (Intercom Directory Number Configuration)
-Go to the cisco unified CM Administration Page.
-Select the Call Routing TAB
-Select the intercom TAB
-Select the Intercom Directory Number TAB
-Click the ADD NEW button
-Create a new range of Intercom’s Directory Numbers, for example
*For this test since we have only 2 Cisco IP Phone’s I will create
Intercom Directory Number * 4000 to 4001
-I will select for the Route Partition (Internal_Intercom_PT)
-My Description will be Intercom Test
-My Alerting Name will be Intercom Test
-My ASCII alerting Name will be the same as my alerting Name
-My Calling Search Space will be (Internal_Intercom_CSS)
-I will leave Presence Group as default
-My auto answer settings will be “Auto Answer with Speakerphone” you can
also choose “Auto Answer with headset” if you like.
-For the default Activated Device settings I will leave it set to none.
Step 4 (Configuring our Cisco IP Phones with Intercom’s Directory Numbers)
-Go to Cisco Unified CM Administration Page.
-Select the Device TAB
-Select the Phone TAB
-Proceed to select the IP phone that you want to provisioned with
an Intercom Directory Number.
-Once in the Global Configuration page of the IP phone that you have
selected to provisioned with an Intercom Directory.
-Scroll down the page almost on the middle of the page on the left you
will see an “Intercom x – Add a new Intercom” link, click here
-Proceed to enter the desire Intercom Directory Number
-Select a Route Partition
-Enter a description
-Enter an Alerting Name (this will propagate to the ASCII alerting name field
-Select an Intercom Calling Search Space
-For the Default Activated Device*** option make sure the Device name
matches the Device name for this IP Phone. (OTHERWISE THE INTERCOM PHONE BUTTON MAY NOT APPEAR CORRECTLY)*
-Configure the Rest of the options in this page at your discreation
-Select Save
-Go back to the Global configuration page of the IP phone that you have
selected to provisioned with an Intercom Directory Number and proceed
to modify the Button Items by clicking on the “Modify Button Items” button
-Proceed to modify the Phone Button configuration with an Intercom Button
-Click Save
-The phone will reset and the new intercom button will now appeared.
*You may follow the same procedure for any other IP phone that you want
to provisioned with an Intercom Directory Number
How to use the intercom feature?
On a intercom Provisioned Cisco IP Phone just simply press the appropriate phone button
and Dial an Intercom Directory Number.
